ShipMonk Alternatives for UK Brands: Choosing a 3PL With a UK Base

The main ShipMonk alternatives for UK brands are Fulfil with Synergy, Huboo and Byrd. ShipMonk runs one UK fulfilment centre in Coalville, but most of its network is in North America. Fulfil with Synergy suits multi-channel, retail and Amazon work, Huboo suits software-led SME fulfilment, and Byrd suits brands holding stock in the UK and Europe.

This guide covers what ShipMonk does well, where a UK brand may want something different, and how each alternative compares on location, channels, pricing and support. If you sell through a webstore, marketplaces and UK retailers, see how multi-channel and retail fulfilment from one UK operation works. For the wider market, see the best UK 3PL providers in 2026. Provider details were checked in October 2026.

What ShipMonk Offers and Who It Suits

ShipMonk is a third-party logistics provider built mainly around the US, with a UK site added for brands that want to reach British and European customers. It suits US-led brands that want one provider across North America and Europe.

ShipMonk runs ten fulfilment centres: seven in the US, one in Canada, one at Bardon Hill in Coalville, Leicestershire, and one in Cheb in the Czech Republic, with offices in Fort Lauderdale and Prague. Its US sites reach 95% of the US within two days. It runs its own order, warehouse and inventory management software, reports 99.9% order accuracy, is SOC 2 Type II certified and holds a 4.5 rating on the Shopify App Store.

Services cover ecommerce and B2B fulfilment, cross-border shipping including DDP, marketplace fulfilment for Amazon FBA prep and Prime, bonded warehousing, custom packaging, dangerous goods and returns. Integrations include Shopify, eBay, BigCommerce and Loop Returns.

ShipMonk announced its UK centre in January 2023 as a fully owned site, giving brands domestic UK delivery speeds and rates and a shorter route into Europe. Pricing is quoted per client. The monthly minimum is your monthly order volume multiplied by your first-item pick fee, less 20%, and batches of fewer than 50 orders carry a batching fee.

If most of your orders ship in North America and the UK is a second market, ShipMonk is a sensible choice. The picture changes when the UK is your main market.

Why UK Brands Look for an Alternative to ShipMonk

UK brands usually look elsewhere when the UK is their core market rather than an add-on. The real question is not whether a provider has a UK building, but where its people, processes and priorities sit.

  • Support: ShipMonk's offices are in Fort Lauderdale and Prague. Ask who your account contact would be and which time zone they work in.
  • Retail and wholesale: Supplying UK high-street retailers or supermarkets needs a team that works to retailer delivery dates, labelling and packaging specs every week.
  • Returns: Processing speed decides how quickly UK customers get refunds and stock is back on sale.
  • Amazon UK: Seller Fulfilled Prime needs approved carriers and tight dispatch performance, so ask how much UK Prime volume a provider already handles.
  • Order profile: Per-pick fees and monthly minimums suit steady, high-volume parcels. If you ship many multi-item orders, kits or gift sets, model the cost on your own orders.

None of this is a criticism of ShipMonk. It reflects where a UK brand's customers are. We cover the wider argument in the benefits of a UK-based fulfilment partner over an overseas 3PL.

Fulfil with Synergy: Multi-Channel, Retail and Amazon Fulfilment From Northampton

Fulfil with Synergy is a founder-led UK third-party logistics (3PL) provider that runs multi-channel, retail and Amazon Seller Fulfilled Prime fulfilment for growing and household brands from purpose-built facilities in Northampton. It combines AutoStore automation and the RedPrairie Dispatcher warehouse management system with high-touch services such as kitting, bonded warehousing and returns management.

Gary Rees started the business nearly 45 years ago as a small delivery service, and he still leads it. The operation runs seven days a week with over 280 fulfilment specialists. RedPrairie Dispatcher tracks stock to unit, SKU, batch and location, keeps a time-stamped audit trail of every stock movement and holds or splits back-orders by rules you set. Where it is built to do more for a UK brand:

Boody's selection process shows how this plays out. It shortlisted four UK providers and scored them on service levels, scalability, automation, technical capability, inventory accuracy, sustainability and commercial fit. It chose Fulfil with Synergy because AutoStore was already running at scale, the in-house technical team already knew NetSuite, and the extended operating hours and same-day dispatch cut-offs matched its customer promise. Gab Drake, Boody's Global Fulfilment Manager, said: "The UK used to be one of our most challenging regions from a fulfilment perspective." It is now one of Boody's top-performing markets operationally.

Where it is less suited: its facilities are in Northampton, so US or EU orders ship cross-border from the UK rather than from local warehouses. It quotes per client rather than showing a rate card (see how its pricing model works), and very small sellers needing only basic pick and pack may find a self-serve model simpler. For international trade, the Fulfil Plus partner ecosystem adds specialists in VAT, EPR, customs and UK, EU and IOSS set-ups.

Running UK and US Fulfilment Side by Side

There are two ways to cover the UK and the US: one provider with sites in both, such as ShipMonk, or two specialists, with a UK 3PL for UK and nearby orders and a US 3PL for North America. The right one depends on where most of your volume ships.

Boody runs the two-provider model. It signed with Fulfil with Synergy for the UK in Q3 2025, and when it ran a US 3PL tender in 2026, Gary Rees joined the Boody team on a five-day visit to four shortlisted US 3PLs. With no stake in the outcome, he gave candid feedback after each site and a written report afterwards. Boody's CEO, Shaun Greenblo, described it as "strategic advisory" rather than "vendor support".

RevitaLash Cosmetics took a UK-specialist route when it expanded into the UK, with Fulfil with Synergy handling implementation through to live operations. Luis R. Candido, Sr, Director of Global Operations, said the experience was "well organized, collaborative, and focused on ensuring a successful launch".

If you run two providers, keep one system of record for stock (usually your ERP), agree how stock is split and replenished, and compare total cost per order in each market.

Huboo: Software-Led Fulfilment From Bristol

Huboo is a dashboard-led 3PL with UK fulfilment near Bristol and smaller networks in Europe and the US. It suits smaller and mid-sized brands that want a stated starting price and self-serve visibility.

Huboo runs two fulfilment centres at Severn Beach near Bristol, plus sites in Madrid, Valkenswaard in the Netherlands and Fort Worth in Texas. Its dashboard covers goods in, sales by channel, courier tracking, inventory, costs and billing, with more than 35 integrations and a verified picking accuracy rate of 99.9%. Its SME service is aimed at businesses typically sending under 500 parcels a week, alongside a separate offer for large and enterprise brands.

Huboo's pricing starts from £1,500 a month, built from fulfilment, packaging, storage, a technology subscription and extras such as returns and kitting. Brands with heavy retail compliance, large kitting programmes or Seller Fulfilled Prime volume should check how those are handled.

Byrd: UK Warehousing Within a European Network

Byrd is a European fulfilment network with significant UK capacity. It suits brands that want UK and EU stock under one contract.

Byrd runs 12 fulfilment centres across the EU and UK, covering Austria, France, Germany, the UK and Poland. It has more than 90,000 square metres of UK warehouse capacity, next-day delivery for UK customers through DPD, Parcelforce and Royal Mail, same-day dispatch for orders placed before local cut-offs and a 99.4% on-time dispatch rate. UK sites include London and a North England centre with a standard 16:00 cut-off.

Integrations include Shopify, WooCommerce, eBay, Amazon FBM, Mirakl and ChannelEngine, plus an API. Byrd is typically a fit for brands shipping at least 500 orders a month, and pricing is by quote.

Switching From ShipMonk to a UK 3PL

Most of the work in a switch is moving stock, rebuilding integrations and managing the overlap, so plan it as a project with dates and owners rather than a single move.

  1. Check your exit terms. Confirm notice periods and any exit or storage charges before setting a go-live date.
  2. Plan the stock move. Stock leaving Coalville is a domestic transfer. Stock from a US or Czech site is an import, so customs entries, duty and import VAT apply, which a bonded warehouse can defer until release.
  3. Rebuild integrations. Reconnect Shopify, Amazon and your ERP, then test SKU mapping, barcodes and bundles with live-like orders.
  4. Run a short overlap. Keep shipping from the old site while the new one receives stock, then switch on an agreed date with a count at both ends.
  5. Brief customer service. Delivery questions rise during any move, so share the cut-over date in advance.

What to Ask Every Provider Before You Choose

Give every provider the same brief and ask the same questions, so you are comparing like with like. Then ask for the answers in writing.

  • Where exactly would my stock sit, and what is the dispatch cut-off for next-day UK delivery?
  • How long do returns take from arrival to back in stock, and what happens to items that fail inspection?
  • What does the full cost look like on my own order profile, across receiving, storage, picking, packaging, returns, account fees and any minimum?
  • Who is my day-to-day contact, and who do I call when something goes wrong?
  • Can I see a working connection to my channels and speak to a client with a similar product mix?

FAQ

Does ShipMonk have a UK warehouse?

Yes. ShipMonk runs a fulfilment centre at Bardon Hill in Coalville, Leicestershire, which it announced in January 2023 as a fully owned and operated UK site. It sits alongside seven US fulfilment centres, one in Canada and one in Cheb in the Czech Republic. For a UK brand, the more useful questions are how much of ShipMonk's account support sits in the UK, whether the Coalville site handles retail and wholesale orders as well as parcels, and how its pricing compares with UK alternatives on your own order profile. Ask for those answers in writing before you compare quotes.

Which ShipMonk alternative is best for a UK brand?

It depends on your channel mix. If you sell through a webstore, Amazon (including Seller Fulfilled Prime) and UK retailers, Fulfil with Synergy is built for exactly that mix, with AutoStore automation, 48-hour returns processing and a bonded warehouse in Northampton. Huboo suits smaller brands that want a stated starting price and a self-serve dashboard. Byrd suits brands that want UK and EU stock under one contract. ShipMonk remains a strong option if most of your orders ship in North America and the UK is a second market.

Can I use one 3PL for the US and another for the UK?

Yes, and it is a sensible set-up when both markets carry real volume. A US 3PL handles North American orders and a UK 3PL handles UK and nearby European orders, each close to its customers. Boody runs this model, with Fulfil with Synergy in the UK and a separate US provider chosen in 2026. The trade-off is managing two contracts and two stock holdings, so you need one system of record, usually your ERP or order management system, and a clear replenishment plan. A single provider such as ShipMonk is simpler to manage but may be less specialised in each market.

Which ShipMonk alternatives integrate with Shopify?

All three do. Huboo connects to Shopify directly or through the Shopify App Store. Byrd connects to Shopify, WooCommerce, eBay, Amazon FBM and Mirakl, plus an API. Fulfil with Synergy connects to sales channels including Shopify and Amazon through API, flat-file SFTP or SOAP web services, with its technical team configuring the link during onboarding. Before you sign, ask each provider to show a live Shopify connection syncing stock and orders, and check how it handles bundles, partial shipments and returns, because a logo on an integrations list does not prove the connection works well.

How much do ShipMonk alternatives cost in the UK?

Of the four providers here, only Huboo gives a starting figure: from £1,500 a month, built from fulfilment, packaging, storage, a subscription and extra services. ShipMonk, Byrd and Fulfil with Synergy quote per client based on order volumes, product sizes, storage and services, and ShipMonk adds a monthly minimum linked to your pick fee. The fair way to compare is to give every provider the same order profile (monthly orders, units per order, SKU count, storage, returns rate and channels) and ask for an itemised quote. Then compare total cost per order, not the headline rate.

If your customers and stock are mainly in the UK, or you are moving UK volume away from ShipMonk, talk to the Fulfil with Synergy team about your channels, order profile and timings. You will get a scoped proposal and a named contact from onboarding onwards.
