Going the extra mile, or in this case close to 4,000 miles for Boody

Last month, Gary Rees, Founder, FwS accompanied Shaun Greenblo, CEO, Boody and Gabriel Drake, Global Head of Warehousing & Logistics, Boody to four shortlisted 3PLs to determine the outcome of an extensive tender process in the US. FwS signed Boody in the UK in Q3 2025.

Here’s what Shaun had to say

Boody is a global sustainable essentials brand built on bamboo, operating across six countries. In early 2026 we undertook a significant US 3PL tender — a five-day, multi-state site visit to four shortlisted logistics partners across the US Midwest. It was a demanding week. What made it exceptional was the person we brought with us: Gary, CEO of Fulfil with Synergy, our UK 3PL partner. Gary had no obligation to be there. He had no financial stake in the outcome. What he had was genuine commitment to our success — and that made all the difference.

The Trip

Accompanied by Gabriel, our Global Head of Warehousing and Logistics, we toured four 3PL facilities over five days — driving cross-state each day, covering serious ground. It was intense, logistically demanding, and genuinely memorable. Gary was with us every step of the way.

What Gary Brought to the Table

At each facility, Gary brought a level of specialist insight that simply wouldn't have been available otherwise:

• He identified operational details — both strengths and red flags — that only someone with deep 3PL expertise would notice on a walk-through.
• After each visit, he sat with us and gave candid, post-visit analysis — honest assessments, no sugarcoating.
• He had zero agenda. One of the four shortlisted providers was actually Gary's own introduction — yet when they fell short on the visit, he was the first to say so. He even delivered the feedback to them directly.

After the trip, he produced a comprehensive post-mortem — unprompted — to help us work towards a final decision. He even offered the services of his CFO to help us review contracts. We took him up on it. This wasn't vendor support. This was strategic advisory — from someone who genuinely had skin in our game, not his own.

The trip wasn't just valuable to Boody. Gary took his own learnings back to Fulfil with Synergy —sitting client side and having a lens into four US 3PL operations and using that context to further raise the bar in his own business. That's what a genuine partner does. Since the trip, Gary and I have referred opportunities to each other. We've built something beyond a commercial relationship — I now count him as a trusted friend and someone I know I can pick up the phone to, any time, about anything.

And now a few words from Gary

Being client-side of an RFP process was a first for me and probably one of the most significant learnings in my career to date. Whilst I never underestimated the significance of choosing a new 3PL, being on the client side, sharing the burden of decision-making, really understanding what the 3PLs we visited were saying, what they stand for, and a true assessment of their operational skill and ability to execute beyond the sales folks in the room was invaluable.

I realised that every single interaction during the visit, be it spoken, seen, or implied, could really affect the outcome. I've brought so many learnings back to my team and for myself, which will stand us in good stead as we further grow our business as the go-to 3PL for fast-growing founder-led and established brands.

On a personal note, the road trip and time spent with Shaun and Gabriel brought a sense of youth and fun back into our hearts. I will always the experience and how close we became on every level, spending so many hours travelling, eating, laughing, enjoying ridiculous amounts of food, and of course picking a fantastic 3PL partner who can enable Boodys US expansion plans long into the future.
